Safety filters serve two purposes: they act as a backup to the primary filter and protect the engine while the primary filter is being serviced.
• Act as a backup filter if the primary filter is damaged or installed incorrectly.
• Keep contaminants from entering the clean side of the air intake system during primary filter servicing.
• Are designed to plug quickly if contamination gets past the primary filter, alerting operators to a problem.
• It is recommended that safety filters be replaced with every third primary filter change unless the primary filter has failed.
