Safety filters serve two functions: they act as a backup to the primary filter and protect the engine during primary filter servicing. • Act as a backup filter if the primary filter is damaged or improperly installed. • Prevent contaminants from entering the clean side of the air intake system during primary filter servicing. • Designed to plug quickly if contamination gets past the primary filter, alerting operators to an issue. • We recommend replacing the safety filter with every third primary filter change unless the primary filter has failed.
